The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The funding is provided to pupils who:
- are registered as eligible for free school meals, or were eligible for free school meals at any point in the past 6 years
- have been looked after for 6 months or longer.
The money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.
